- As a kid, I remember being very envious of kids in the neighborhood playing under the rain. My parents were totally against the idea. I feel like I have missed a lot because of that.
- The Meteor Garden / Hana Yori Dango episode under the rain, wherein the main characters are to break their relationship because too many people are getting hurt with their situation.
- I remember playing with paper boats and make them float when the water gets deep enough in the garden. I would take tons of paper boats because I couldn’t give in to the situation that they all sink once they sail too far.
- During intense thunderstorms, I remember my grandfather hugging me because I kept on crying from fear that the water will get too high and we will drown.
- I used to always cringe in a corner from the sound of thunder. Yes, it is from the sound but also because I thought that God is angry at me for something I did.
- I remember one moment in elementary (I think), after the rain, the sky was still covered with very thick, gray clouds. And yet, I was able to see a perfect rainbow through the clouds. I never saw another one again.
- In high school, when floods enter the school, I remember wading through the water (they were above ankle deep) and sometimes carrying someone in my back for the fun of it. I don’t remember who that was. Then we’d shriek when we see a mouse swimming beside us (eeeeewww!)
- Also, in high school, I remember me and my classmates trying to hog the electric fan so we could dry our wet socks, from braving the weather to get to school. Only to find out later that classes were suspended. ^^
- It was always during the rainy season I get sick. So it was always expected I would be absent from school at some point during that season.
- Though I’m not particularly fond of rain, I have to admit I had my best, most peaceful reading moments at that kind of weather.
- I remember the feeling of squishy school shoes back then. ^^
- In college, when we would brave the weather to go home asap, we end up staying at the mall’s comfort room and dry ourselves (clothes and all) under the hand dryer.
- I love the “I Am Sixteen, Going on Seventeen” segment from Sound of Music, wherein the teens would sing and dance around happily in the gazeebo despite the bad weather. It’s one of my fave movies.
- A Fruits Basket episode wherein kind-hearted Tohru finally accepted Kyou’s monster cat form. Amidst the rain, Tohru made her feelings known that depite Kyou’s hideous form, she wants to stay with him. Kyou, upon transforming into a cat when he hugged Tohru in gratitude, mentioned these words… “Why is a person like you here with me? Caring for me? Why?” *heart heart heart*
- From the movie, Ever After, when Prince Henry and ‘Cinderella’, mourned their broken relationship upon finding out that ‘Cinderella’ lied about her true identity. Totally heart-breaking.
- From the series Sola, I mourn over her (Sola) disadvantage of being an entity of darkness. She cannot be touched by the light of the sun or she will die. Therefore, she has never been under a blue sky. She can only come out in daytime during a rainy weather and when does, she walks around the city with her trusty umbrella that is designed as a blue sky with white clouds inside so she could imagine to be walking under it. A heartfelt moment.
- When I’m learning kanji, this is one of the few characters I doubt I would forget ??= ame = rain
- The Hydrangea episode in xxxHolic. The rain sprite asked for Watanuki to help the plant Hydrangea in a park. Under the rain, Watanuki discovered a body buried under the plant, causing the white blossoms to become red from the blood slowly poisoning its stems. Afterwards, Wataniku thanked the rain sprite for leading them to the body but the rain sprite said this instead… “I didn’t care about the body. I wanted to save the hydrangea. It is one of the few pure spirits left in this world and it is slowly dying from the body buried beneath. I don’t care about the human. Why should I care about the humans when humans don’t care about nature?” Wow, that was deep.
- For the longest time, I have my most peaceful rainy time with a hot, steaming Lucky Me Insant Noodles. Despite the various local instant noodle brands, its that one that gives me the most pleasure. ^^
- When we still had the big garden, whenever the rain stops, I will go out and go to my rosal plant, which happened to be taller and higher than me. I was so excited to see my white flowers in bloom, with rain drops on their petals. As a kid, I found that very beautiful. And the plant blooms rarely and the flowers die fast, so I always treasure those moments.
