The Annual Trio Birthday Bash

The Annual Trio Birthday Bash

I’m not the type to immediately put into words events that happened in my life. Usually, I take events into my heart and retain them as private memories to linger on. It is on rare occasions, like this one, that I have the motivation and inspiration to write things that happily happened to me. ^^

Yesterday was a blast!

We had our annual birthday trio celebration where only us girls (I, Joan, and Christine) spend our time together going back through old times, being updated on each others lives and make fun of each other (good naturedly). Of course, the real fun was in teasing Christine a.k.a “Denok” about anything and everything under the sun. It has been a wonderful of past time for me and Joan to do so. ^____^

Our day started off with our planned shabu-shabu birthday treat. We intentionally didn’t had lunch so we would enjoy every bit of potentially everything placed on our table. With a new digital camera I bought with my boyfriend last week, I knew I had record everything I can to commemorate the event. Thus, the pictures you will find below. ^^

I adored the menu. I’m probably saying that because it looked so Japanese and I adore everything Japansese. Haha! It took a while for us to choose our dishes since everything looked so appetizing so I left the decision making to Denok since she’s the one used to shabu-shabu cuisine. Denok is the one holding up the menu. She just had to do that and look like an endorser XDD

I’m used to Japanese bowls being black and red in other Japanese restaurants so this green and black ones are a welcome change to my eyes. I like them!

I had to take a few shots of the interior of the restaurant. As you can see, smoke is the usual scenario here, which can’t be helped since customers are cooking their own food. The cozy, wooden atmosphere with old-style calligraphic like paintings on the wall depict an old Japanese restaurant, where the Japanese would have huddled down in comfortable groups, cooking in a hot-boiling soup of tasty sauce in a cold, rainy day. The hanging lamps provide a perfect accent to an age-like scene.

Our chosen menu consisted of Autralian lamb, beef, assorted seafood, rice and bottomless iced tea. We thought it was enough for us but it came out more than what we expected. XD

We asked a waitress to help us make the soup especially since Denok unsuccessfully broke an egg in an attempt to make one. XD The soup consisted of adding chilly garlicky sauce, a mix of finger chives and red chilis.

I found out patience is a virtue when eating shabu-shabu with smoke going to your face (which Joan referred to as free facial spa), you have to wait for your food to soften and you need to be quick enough to make sure your food don’t come out soggy. Such things don’t mean a thing though in company of good friends so it was a really nice experience.

Here are the three of us having some profile pics to post on our facebook accounts. Haha!

After eating, we decided to walk around and then rest awhile along Greenbelt park. Denok, suddenly had this great interest in digging out all the features of my digital camera. So we had quite a photo shoot of the scenery as well of ourselves having a good time. ^^

The day (and earlier heavy lunch) of the day will not end without dessert. :D

Denok invited us to Café Brelon. We got ourselves very tempting looking desserts with La Delice and Blueberries and Cream. Yum Yum! It was heaven!

We ended the day doing our usual grocery shopping for the upcoming working days (after the holiday today) and we separated ways going home. Next time we may meet together might be on Denok’s wedding this December. But no, I want this tradition to continue. Every year, we have to make it happen. This threesome rules! (That did not come out right. LOL)
