I heard a romantic line this morning. And no its not for me, duh! I heard it on HBO this morning. Not sure of the movie title since I haven’t started it but seeing teenagers as main characters made me watch for I haven’t seen a youth-oriented movie for a looooooong time.
So what is this romantic line?
A teen-ager with a single mom, grows tired of constantly moving after the mom’s heart break one after another. Being in a new environment, new school and new friends, the teen fit in well but was adamant to do anything in her power to make her mom feel loved and comfortable so they would not move anymore.
The teen made friends with a friend’s uncle, who at the time of the acquaintance, was giving advice on a phone on how to court a girl, specifically saying flowers are the best gifts to give to a woman.
The teen has no romantic inkling inside her and didn’t believe a word he said. Undaunted, the uncle drew a long stemmed yellow rose and handed it to the teen saying, “A rose is perfect. Giving one to a woman tells her she is perfect and that no one can replace her.”
“Really?” the unromantic teen asked. “That’s what a yellow rose means?”
“Actually no.” The uncle laughs and takes the rose back. “A yellow rose is for a sick grandmother.”
“But,” the uncle continues, “if a man really likes a woman, its best to give her an orchid.”
“Orchid? Why? What does an orchid say?”
“When you see an orchid on water, it looks so gentle, so serene. When you give an orchid to a woman, you are saying to her that she is an orchid placed on a gentle cloud of thousands of possibilities and that makes her one of a kind.”
(Okay, I didn’t get the exact words but that was the meaning of the conversation.)
After hearing that, I couldn’t help but smile. *laughs* Okay, so maybe a bit of a romantic is in me since I admit I am a sucker for romantic comedy and dramas. :D
Oh yea, another line that got me hooked:
“A perfect man is somebody who can be anywhere in the world but chooses to be with her.”
Ooow, isn’t that sweet? LOL
Oh well, but not all gets that lucky. I just get awed whenever people I know tell it happened to them, that they found that someone for them. For me, I’m not holding my breath. Life is already too complicated for me to get moony eyed over a fairy tale that has all the possibilities not to happen.
Am I cynical? Well yea, can’t deny that. I’m not saying that you should give up on your romantic fantasy because of what I said. That is MY opinion. If you are a romantic, then continue being so, that made you who you are. And being accepted for who you are could possibly be the best gift one could ever have.
Well, I gotta go and finish some projects. At least these lines are now for keeps on my blog. :D
Tootles!
