Proms are also for guys

Who said that proms are only for girls?

I’m not really sure just what goes in the minds of guys when this time of the year comes. Though I did fine a few male insights on the topic and well… I never thought it could be placed that way. :)

Guys take this time as the season to be their romantic selves. Though perceived for proms to be mainly for females, for men with girlfriends, this is the moment to show their special someone their romantic sides. They get the excuse of doing perceived ‘cheesy’ stuff girls like. Flowers, chocolates, songs, poems, etc. The prom is the ambiance.

For single guys who has eyeing a girl from afar, it is the moment of truth to finally bring up the courage and approach the girl to ask to the prom. It is the final opportunity before the end of their high-school lives to be with the girl they like. Creativity sometime sets in at these moments when guys do stuff that would make it impossible for the girls to say no.

The prom is a time for guys to experience a new aura or look. From jock or geek to sophisticated and cool. It is the time to wear a tux and feel more mature. The moment to feel how it will be like in the future, in the time of suave courtship of adulthood. And besides, if the girls go all-out to be at their best on the prom, their partners have to do the same to compliment them.

Who does not want to ride in a chic limo eh? It makes you feel a celebirty. It’s the moment to shine. And the prom often exudes the neccessity for it. XD

Guys do dig romance but because of the ‘macho’ image they need to exude, they aren’t provided the freedom to do so. But at prom, no such limitations are expected. And often, the best moments happen in there. A memory to keep. It’s a time to bond with partner or even with friends as a group.

So you see, prom for guys is also a momentous thing. It just shows that guys are aware of what is expected at this time. But more importantly, guys are also sensitive. Don’t mind their ‘macho’ image or whatnots. Society did somehow enforce some image on them, but it does not mean they are completely like that.
