When at work…
What to realize while working
NOTE: This applies to everyone, even students. This is about what to realize while working our butts off to achieve our goals. ^_^
Every worker will depend on comment, criticism and judgment from others and it is up to him to harbor the feelings, more so if they are negatives ones, or to accept them as constructive advice for growth.
It is obvious to say that man lives and works to survive and have a position in the society. His achievements will speak of his fame and quality. Modern workers will say this is true but not realize there is a deeper truth in the fact – man lives in his work not because his achievements commemorate him… they also express him as an individual. His work is the product of his skill, his success the product of his soul. Everything he does will uncover more of who he is to his peers; everything he fashions or creates interprets and explains him.
Let us take an artist as an example. Look at the work of every great sculptor, writer, composer, architecture, etc. In each piece of work is a distinctive mark to identify its creator. Even without a marked name on an art’s façade, there would be no delay for an expert to determine whose work it was. A maestro could easily differentiate classical pieces from one composer to another with no problem. A painting collector would easily see through the art’s brush strokes and color to which name the painting is associated with.
Work, therefore, is not mere physical actions manifested in exchange of stability or a position in society. It is in essence, sacred, not only because it is where you learn patience, how to work hard or how to deal with people, but because it uncovers everything about the individual.
At most times, we become to busy to realize how work has evolved our personality. There come moments though, when some intimate experience is confided to us, we realize that we are in the presence of a deeper connection behind the familiar face of our work friend. It is in these moments, we bear witness to something deeper and stronger, but of which we rarely seem aware. We not only uncover our heads at work. We uncover our hearts as well.
Good work not only practices our way of thinking. It also liberates our imagination and heightens our relationship with others. The higher the quality of the work and the better relationship one has with others at his place of profession, the individual will be more confident to search and liberate himself from the trappings of the society and live and have a more contented output in life.
