Redundancy can be boring
One downside of being a regular employee is the times when you required working extra hours to finish a project. Have you ever had that moment wherein you see the clock hands nearing the numbers ending your shift and you don’t realize your movements are faster in hopes you would be able to jump out of the office to breath in air of office freedom? I’m often like that. Even when I love my job, being stuck on the same chair, typing away with the same computer, seeing the same four walls, seeing the same faces, hearing the same work conversations can become so redundant I sometimes wish for a brick to fall on my head so I could have an excuse to sleep the hours away. Too harsh? I guess so. See how much redundancy and boredom can do to a normal mind?
Thank goodness the internet has provided me minute distractions once in a while. The best online thing that happened recently is old Winglica forum members, who had been gone for a long time, had found their way back into our online home. My IM would pop up messages of long time members greeting and inquiring how everyone else were faring. When I went visit the forum to see how things were after the revamp of major roleplaying rules from two days ago, old timers were already mingling with the new ones and a bit of hype had came back within the threads. I was feeling nostalgic seeing old names suddenly bringing their spice of online role-playing insanity. I felt like a mother feeling very happy seeing her brood visit the old nest after they flew the coop to explore the world. Cheesy? Well, I am becoming an old timer compared to the young audience the forum has. Being an admin, I do feel old mediating between online fights, maintaining conversations within threads, and acting like a CEO administering tasks here and there among forum staff. But as an old member told me earlier, I don’t look old and she said I don’t act like such among the members and that what makes me approachable to them. Awww… thank you so much for the compliment *blush* I’m very glad I was able to do something right as an admin to all them, even when I do forget sometimes to visit the forum because of a busy schedule.
I also got my One Liter of Tears book I ordered from Amazon Japan last Friday! Yippee! When I opened the package, I literally inhaled the book while turning the pages. New books have this distinct smell and I’m like an addicted drug user when I get a hold of one *grins*. I’m like a bloodhound sniffing over a new curious scent, trying to explore what an item holds. Haha! I’ve already read a few pages and I find the way of writing very endearing. It is after all a translated diary of a girl teenager fighting to live against an incurable disease. The way of writing is very simple, engaging and heartfelt. As much as I am a fast reader and I can finish a book in one sitting same as I did with a Sydney Sheldon novel, I will read this novel slow to cherish every word and emotion. I absolutely adored the series. Reading the source of an excellent drama is a moment not to be taken for granted. One Liter of Tears is a true story, one that has made its way across different countries to bring a story of love and bravery to live and to love life.
I am getting quite sleepy already. My mind turned mush from the extra time I had during the OT *meep*. Might as well retire now since I have another busy day tomorrow. Tata!
