Quirky Appendage

I had the quirkiest sensation ever. I had finished watching Animal Planet and the show is titled ‘The Most Extreme’ (or something of that nature. I am not a regular viewer), wherein the focus is to get the top 10 animals that fits the topic. ‘Ten Loudest’, ‘Ten Longest’, ‘Ten Weirdest Appendages’, etc. The topic I got to see was the latter and though all animals really amazed me with the use of their amazing appendages, it never gave me enough goosebumps as one I am to mention now.

I don’t remember the name but I can try to describe how it looks like. It resembles a mole. It lives in underground tunnels and eats on things it can snag in the earth. Worms, ants, beetles etc. It is very interesting though, how it can seem to move very fast despite the darkness underground. It easily sniff around the tiny tunnels, never pausing in its steps unless it found its grub. Its fast movements were actually aided by *ehem* small like tentacles that are attached to its nose. You can try to imagine a sea anemone, with its beautiful flower-like tentacles being stuck on the mole’s nose. Up close though, the tiny like fingers looked like maggots. They were so many of them. They were actually the mole’s appendages.

The appendages are 10x more sensitive than a human’s hand. That is the reason they could easily move around the darkness. The appendages help in feeling around and to feel its environment. Amazing isn’t it? But I still don’t like how it looks. *bleh*

I wonder if everyone has the means to alter their looks and customize their features all they want (hey! There are cases like that now. Have you seen the tiger man?!), would anyone do the same thing and place something on their nose? There could be a lot of services out there like the rhinoplasty Philadelphia but would anyone really go to such extent?

*imagines having the mole’s appendages on my nose* Eeeeeeeeewwwww! I know beauty isn’t everything but really!
