Chibilicious - Having my own small, cute world is great

I presume the Colgage Matinding Freshness website has the other goal of having a ala Filipino youtube based service. Not that it lacks originality (as many other video websites and companies are doing this as online promotions) but I somehow expected more from Colgate than a static, dominantly rose colored interface.

It could be the former-adviser-turned-web designer (designer-slash-project manager) talking but the site seems dead aesthetically. We have to thank the brand-name though and it doesn’t stop me from exploring the site. Besides the lacking aesthetics, other right ingredients are there. Online webcam-singing, giveaways and huge cash prizes and the chance to be in a Colgate commercial… who wouldn’t want that?

And I must say, kudos to the Filipinos! Some of the entries are actually good. I can’t wait for lunch break in the office so I could view more. The site is actually a cheap way to scout talents, share videos, and broadcast talent online.

Contest officially started last April 1 and will continue to receive submissions until May 31, 2008.

It is in time of boredom and listless-ness I get to absently search over the net anything that can perk up my procastinating butt off the chair. So my eyes were just going over the links when I found a set of ads that got my attention and damn if I don’t share this with everyone! XDDD

NOTE: Unfortunately, the ff fun application could only be played by those who live or had lived long in the Philippines. But if you are the type, who researches anything for fun, maybe you can try to hack all of these ^^ A requirement though, you have to understand Filipino.

I got this excel file from a friend. It contains 200 popular and well-known dialogues or copy ads from various advertising campaigns that happened in the Philippines. What you need to do is guess for which product or brand the copy was made. This will test just how perceptive you are to commercials / ads and just how much impact a campaign did.

This is definitely a must to take. You may feel definitely feel nostalgic of things and you can ask other people (of different age brackets) to help you with those you are not familiar about. This excel application would form a bonding of communication for people. ^^

Much to my dismay, I was able to initially answer only 9.5% of the whole thing! *shame shame shame* If anybody can help me, pleeeeeeeeease give me the answers! XD

Who would ever think that I am to have a hype over a pretzel that is 99% not even available in my country? @_@

Enter Pocky!!!

What is Pocky? It’s an unsalted pretzel/biscuit stick covered with chocolate. Simple, crunchy, sweet and smooth.

It’s really a simple candy, or perhaps it’s a snack. I don’t care what you call it, it’s good. The pretzel base is crunchy and actually rather bland with has a wonderful consistent crisp to it that stands up to the chocolate. The chocolate is smooth and sweet with a hint of dry bitterness. Unlike the regular Pocky that I tried, this one has far less trans fatty acids (.5 grams for half the box). Of course there’s also 5 grams of protein in each serving.

The snack is a pretty good value as imported candy goes - it’s a 100 gram box and I picked it up at regular price at Mitsuwa for $1.59. In fact, I found it hard to eat a full serving of it. The box has two pouches in it and the box protects the long sticks from getting broken. In fact, this is my fourth box of Pocky and I’ve never had a broken one. ~ Candyblog

What brought about this hype? An officemate and I had another one of those youtube marathons over lunch break to pass the time. She was looking over videos of her fave japanese actors, when a Pocky commercial really had us almost falling from our seats laughing! XD Thus started the viewing of all Pocky commercials we could grab and I tell you, most of then are downright hilarious!

These commercials are a perfect example of out-of-the-box types with complete product recall in jive with the product’s musical score of “Anata mo watashi mo pocky!” (You and Me and Pocky!)

You have to watch these commercials I swear! And you’ll get what I mean.
