New commercials! Pepsi and GIV

For the longest time, I have not been touched so deeply by a soap commercial. The ambiance, the music, the location… all brings about the exact moment of beauty and happiness. Very very loving. ^^

Pepsi Comercial - Celebrity bloopers here

As usual, every Asian Pepsi commercial brings about the amazing, truly inspiring and memorable scenes undoubtedly brings a lot of mind recall. The Best!^_^

Colgate Viral Video Campaign

Colgate viral campaign

I presume the Colgage Matinding Freshness website has the other goal of having a ala Filipino youtube based service. Not that it lacks originality (as many other video websites and companies are doing this as online promotions) but I somehow expected more from Colgate than a static, dominantly rose colored interface.

It could be the former-adviser-turned-web designer (designer-slash-project manager) talking but the site seems dead aesthetically. We have to thank the brand-name though and it doesn’t stop me from exploring the site. Besides the lacking aesthetics, other right ingredients are there. Online webcam-singing, giveaways and huge cash prizes and the chance to be in a Colgate commercial… who wouldn’t want that? :D

And I must say, kudos to the Filipinos! Some of the entries are actually good. I can’t wait for lunch break in the office so I could view more. The site is actually a cheap way to scout talents, share videos, and broadcast talent online.

Contest officially started last April 1 and will continue to receive submissions until May 31, 2008.

Marketing materials online

I had been in the advertising industry and I knew how it feels to run from one supplier to another to compare quotes, materials, timetables, requirements, etc. to satsify the requirements of Clients. More so if you don’t have a designer yet for a material and you need to look for a quality freelancer to do the work.

Yes, I can imagine again the fieldwork, papers, phone calls etc. just to get a marketing material proceed.

It is to my utter delight that there are easier ways to get marketing materials such as Signs, Vinyl lettering, Banners, Flags, Magnetic Signs, Bumper stickers, etc. with just a few clicks of the button. It is even better that though you are not a designer, quality templates are available for you to easily customize for your needs.

The potential of this kind of service is easier access, less fieldwork, less collaborations and less costs. Some business similar to this also provides services for rental displays, liscense plates, street signs, accessories, etc.

With just a few clicks of the button, your work is done. Now that is the power of an online business. :)

STASH

Stash DVD

Literally I found a stash of DVDs I haven’t finished viewing for a long time. That from STASH MEDIA TV, consisting of hundreds of advertising commercials, MTV / movie / opening sequences etc., compiled into a great organized collection for personal viewing. This may not sound so amazing for focused niche movie viewers but much can be taken from these minutes and even seconds (commercials) - length materials as these signify the output of our present times, culture and trends.

These could be considered as one of the best materials creative directors, advertising and marketing executives could invest upon. The potential of of creative aid from these materials is endless. EVeryone can appreciate these materials, even to the not so technically and skillfully trained aesthetic eye. Everyone can appreciate the beauty of aesthetics, sound and moral integrated into one sequentially limited plot of creative value. People could get a lot out of these materials as well as remember a lot about their experiences especially with commercials, when it depicts a certain transition of life and culture.

I consider it good fortune I stumbled upon these DVDs without even knowing what was in them. In truth, what made me notice these was a good package of 3D graphics printed on their covers. A good friend, who sold the DVDs, advised me to try one and come back for the whole set if I ever get interested. I ended up buying the whole 7 set, which was way over my budget at that time (ouch!) I see it was worth the investment. Even if I am not within the ad industry anymore, as someone currently training to be skilled in web designing, the creative aspect of all materials helps me think, brainstorm and create designs of my own.

So no, I don’t believe these DVDs are only for creative and broadcast production people alone. I see these as archives of our time, a collection of history and also a mark of our humanity.
