Is there anything to hate with smilies? ^_^
With cute little pixels or ‘head only’ images, these smilies are able to constitute a lot of human emotions, from being adoringly embarassed or to stubbornly annoying.
Honestly, I have not taken into consideration just how much smilies have embedded their existence into my life. Being the internet geek that I am, I have never realized how much I am using them. From IMs, forums, blogs, web designs etc. This constitutes usage of traditional and designed smilies.
Traditional smilies (code used) I meant like the ff:
>_> = looks right
*o* = sparkling eyes
=)) = rolling over the floor laughing (found in YM)
:-h = wave (found in YM)
As for designed smilies, well, they are all over the net :)
Yep, I abuse, adore, wince, laugh, scrutinize, blush, giggle over each and every new smilie I come across with. Who am I to ignore the cute heavenly gift of ‘one-headedness’? :D
I believe smilies will be here for a very long time. Whether they become 3D, or they do develop more body parts (some already have hands and feet attached to their single rounded-ness :-p), the simple, cute constituent of human emotion will always hold a place in society. They signify a simple fact, that extravagance in visuals, colors or in any other aspect of social interaction (offline or online) isn’t needed to bond with others.
Being friendly needs only simplicity and being yourself. :-*
