Hangover on the rocks

What do you dislike about obsessive drinkers?

1. They smell like poop or urine.

2. They make the whole house smell (like poop or urine or worse, both).

3. They say the same thing over and over again.

4. They ask the same question over and over again.

5. They complain their health is degrading when it’s obvious the reason why.

6. They say drinking helps them to sleep from insomia / over-anxiousness / forget their problems temporarily. That’s just it. It’s TEMPORARY. So the problem is still there. Still they complain and continue to drink to forget about it. What a reason. Why don’t they just drink once then move their butts the next day and actually SOLVE the problem. That would probably accomplish something.

7. They make a mess of the place.

8. They won’t clean the mess they made.

9. They order people around them as if everyone is a personal maid.

10. Alcohol will their wife and child. The actual people will be the one to either buy or clean the empty bottles away.

How to make readers come to your blog

On my previous post, I gave simple tips and few samples on how to blog properly. Now, let us delve into how to make readers come back to your blog.

1. Have a general theme and make this obvious in a particular portion of your blog. If your theme isn’t in your title or obvious in your design, you could make a readable tagline of what your blog is all about. Make it interesting as much as possible so your readers will be intrigued to explore especially if it is their first time on your site.

2. Keep your post current. Do not blog about a past event. Often, your readers will already know of the event and wouldn’t bother to read further.

3. Keep a schedule and stick to it. Especially with subscribers, they are expecting something from you. Keeping them informed on a regular basis will make them come back to your site. Plus, updating your blog regularly will eventually make your site content-rich and garner a higher Page rank and more traffic.

4. Blog readers are known to scan through posts especially if they are long. So make your posts short and sweet but still contains all information needed.

5. Your keyword should be found in your title. Search engines will find this and aid in getting your post higher rankings.

6. Make your content identifiable to you. Set your own tone and mood. Put some humor if you can. Make your updates sound as if you are making a conversation. Readers adore that.

7. Proper grammar is essential. Avoid typographical errors. True, we make mistakes here and there but we must at least make an effort to practice and be aware of them to make necessary edits in the future.

8. Don’t forget RSS feeds. Your blog should have this to increase readership and distribution of your posts.

9. Make use of the current social networking tools (e.g. Twitter, Plurk, Facebook etc.) Social communities add up to attaining friends to visit your blog instead of communicating with them on a business direct approach. People can be turned off by that online.

How to write a good blog

For the longest time, I have read countless of articles stating that if you want to earn money through blogging, you should follow three (3) simple rules. These are:

(1) Find a niche topic you know a lot about
(2) Make sure your posts are focused on your niche topic
(3) Regularly update and talk in a conversation-like tone

Most of the time I find myself bored reading the same topic time and again. I realized later that this constant repetition is a fine way to remind bloggers of these important rules.

I believe it’s important to remind ourselves other simple blogging rules (for earning money) which are most of the time, left unspoken and leaves simple mistakes that could cost a blog’s worth.

1. Write in a tone that can be comprehended by the masses.

2. Try to get rid of acronyms (without stating what they mean first) or local slang if only few numbers will understand.

3. Keep sentences simple and concise. Make sure your grammar is correct and there are no spelling errors.

4. Try to blog as often as possible especially if you have a good following of readers. They will expect updates from you and will enjoy your posts.

5.
Don’t be shy to ask questions. Try to visit other blogs of similar theme and start communities based on your interests.

6. Keep your focus. If you theme is about food and seasonings, posts on cleaning and gardening should be left somewhere else.

7. Write from your heart and soul. Doing so will make your readers feel a connection with you.

8. Don’t hesitate to bring out the thesaurus, dictionary or other source of references to improve your writing skill. Blogging is an output but it won’t hurt to educate yourself. Readers would be able to understand your ideas more if your sentences are correctly constructed.

They’re pretty easy to remember right? To give a concrete example of blogs earning a good income through proper blogging, check out the links below. NOTE: These are blogs I frequent on too. ^_^
