Nearing the end of 2008
Another year is ending today, precisely this midnight and I can’t help but reminisce back on the past year. The success, the failures, the gifts, the blessings, the growth, etc.
Another year is starting and all I can say and promise to myself is… to do the best as I can to succeed in all endeavours that I want. As tradition connotes, by this time, I should have made up a resolution list to accomplish for the next year. I never really believed in resolution lists. I think that resolutions shouldn’t have to wait for New Year to create.
But to get along with the times and to indulge myself into the traditions of New Year, I have decided to make a resolution list.
I’ve decided to make things a wee bit different for myself. Sure, I am to make a list but instead of making the typical format of:
1. I promise to…
2. I promise to…
3. I promise to…
and so on and so forth.
Instead I will do this instead:
Section 1: Things to accomplish next year.
1.1 I will pursue, continue and flourish on a new site I’ve been working on my local server for quite some time. It’s not yet final but I will not leave things half done nor will I let go even if things do not work out first.
1.2 No matter how small, I will at least have a maximum of three (3) investment plans this year. It could be insurance, short-term investments, bonds, etc. Goal is to make some part of my savings growth, no matter how small the interest is.
1.3 I need to finish my SEO course and make a career out of it. I WILL accomplish that.
Section 2: Things to Constantly Remember and Exercise.
2.1 To be patient. I have been patient this long and to be patient is a great virtue. I will not let hot-headedness overcome logical decision making. I can rant but I will not let myself get too involved in the issue.
2.2 To not over-think of my problems. Everything has a solution and it is up to me to see and accomplish those solutions for the benefit of my health and sanity.
2.3 I have to remember that I don’t have to eat much to satisfy my cravings (meep!). Yes, I do eat a lot. I realize I have grown bigger last year and my pants aren’t fitting correctly anymore. I understand it will be hard to trim down my size but I could at least maintain my size.
Section 3: Notes and Symbols to help me remember what I wrote above.
3.1 For sub-section 1.1, I need to remind myself by constantly being online and posting my plans on my notebook, post-its, desktop post-its, etc. I will place note of it everywhere to motivate myself to finish the project and make it grow.
3.2 For sub-section 1.2, I will constantly take into account all my expenses to be aware of my financial status and make ways to save up for planned investments. Best case scenario is to remind myself that I need to save by not brining too much money on my wallet and constantly think that I am short so I would not spend too much on inessentials.
3.3 For sub-sction 1.3, this is not hard to remember as it is involved in my work and will lead to improvement for my career growth.
3.4 For sub-section 2.1 – 2.3, I have to thank my boyfriend for being my guardian angel in my times of need and mood swings. He is such a sweetheart to comfort and lecture me (when needed) regarding my issues. He definitely knows how to put my mind at ease. ^_^
Section 4: Things I would like to get next year (these are optional of course but I would like to think Santa would be kind enough to sent late Christmas presents. LOL)
4.1 A Wacom Tablet to use on my laptop for sketching, drawing or maybe even gaming purposes. It beats using the mouse.
4.2 A mini-notebook I could lug around when there’s nothing design related to do. (For designers, it is preferable for designers to use units with widescreens).
4.3 Coffee table books on design, layouts, graphics, interior designs, etc. I always wanted to have a library of visual related books at my leisure.
As you can see it isn’t much of a list. Of course, there are more I would like to add like travel to different countries, have the latest gadgets, build my own house, etc. Yet, I know these things are long-term goals and cannot be accomplished within the next year (unless I win the lottery). So I’m taking things one-step at a time in order to avoid timeframe pressures and to give focus on the essentials before I proceed to the next level of commitments.
