Chibilicious – Having my own small, cute world is great

It’s only recently I decided to do a total makeover to Widespaces. First, I chose a theme from a wordpress theme directory and opted for whiltem clean, minimalistic look. With the easy part done, I then had to work on the functionality of the blog. That would mean I have to reply on plugins since I have no strong knowledge on php and database programming to edit the wordpress code by myself.

I found tons and tons of plugins to consider. To easily download the right one I decided to do a research on top best wordpress plugins. Thus, I came to this page, titled TOP 30 Wordpress Plugins in Blogosphere.

True enough, some of these plugins were already included in the wordpress theme I chose and they were pretty good.

Unfortunately, due to wordpress’ constant upgrading (which, I hate sometimes but can’t do without since it does involve security issues), I can’t figure out to make some of the plugins work. It seemed some are not compatible anymore the to recent 2.2 version of wordpress and that pisses me of. I had to rely on some later versions of an alternative plugins or just do without.

As of the moment you are reading this post, the plugins below are the plugins currently working in this blog.

1. Ad Rotator: ver 1.0 Rotates Ads randomly from a specified text file By Angsuman Chakraborty.
2. Akismet: ver 1.14 Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web serivce to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use this service. You can review the spam it catches under “Manage” and it automatically deletes old spam after 15 days. Hat tip: Michael Hampton and Chris J. Davis for help with the plugin. By Matt Mullenweg.
3. AMM – Amazon Media Management Extension: ver 1.5 The Amazon Media Manager for Wordpress 1.5 By Denyerec and Marcel Dunn.
4. Content E-mail Responder: ver 2.3 Emails commenter when an admin replies to the comment, if commenter is not subscribed to email updates via Subscribe-to-Comments. Original idea/coding by Andrew Flusche By Owen Cutajar.
5. Exec-PHP: ver 3.2 Allows < ?php ?> tags inside the content or excerpt of your posts and pages to be executed just as in usual PHP files By Sören Weber.

8. Google Sitemaps: ver 2.7.1 This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog. By Arne Brachhold.
9. Hello Dolly (default plugin of wordpress): ver 1.5 This is not just a plugin, it symbolizes the hope and enthusiasm of an entire generation summed up in two words sung most famously by Louis Armstrong: Hello, Dolly. 11. Popularity Plugin: ver 1.2.1 This will enable ranking of your posts by popularity; using the behavior of your visitors to determine each post’s popularity. You set a value (or use the default value) for every post view, comment, etc. and the popularity of your posts is calculated based on those values. Once you have activated the plugin, you can configure the Popularity Values and View Reports. The ff plugins are those I want to use in my blog but can’t seem to work

1. Sociable: ver 2.0 Automatically add links on your posts to popular social bookmarking sites. Go to Options -> Sociable for setup. By Peter Harkins.
2. WP-PageNav ver 2.10 Adds a more advanced paging navigation your WordPress blog. By GaMerZ.

Can somebody help me with the latter plugins. They don’t seem to be compatible with wordpress version 2.2. I’m not really sure though.
