Skype mania!

The happiest thing happened yesterday in the office. I experienced being in a conference call for the first time with four other members of Winglica! A real first! Five people from different locations in the world, finally got together to speak to each other! It was the closest thing we could have to an eyeball! I’m just so happy!

There was Licorne, Mido, Michan, Darkisc and I. All came from Winglica forum, that online anime and manga community in the far reachces of the world, where insanity rules! LOL

Don’t get me wrong, its great in Winglica! I never thought the forum would get this big or we to get acquainted with great people from all over the world.

We didn’t expect any of the familial connections and deep relationships we now have with each other. It’s really amazing how technology, despite its scientific nature to make work easier for humans, is able to create and nurture an emotional bond of sorts across the cyber zone.

During the conference, we encountered difficulties since majority had faulty connections (especially mine T_T). Often someone gets disconnected from the conference, one can’t hear anything, one can’t be heard, a mic didn’t work, lots of choppy and garbled words etc. Still, it never stopped us to try and try again to hear each other! We even had our own mini karaoke! LOL

Licorne and I rejected any requests to sing since we will be both heard in the office. XD That wouldn’t really be good evaluation to our office behaviour. *cough cough*

We are in a higher step of acquaintance and it gives me an ecstatic feeling to hear them. ^_^

Winglica people, kampai to friendship! *raises glass*

I’m in Love with Gay Love (eep!)

My mind (and heart) reels over an unexpected turn of romantic issues.

Being a full-pledge anime enthusiast, I had my exposure to all type of anime genre, including yaoi (men to men relationstip).

Though the issue is still considered taboo in some parts of the society, it did not stop me from watching such series. Initially, it was the bishies (handsome men), the curiosity, and the *cough cough* interest to see men in ‘action’, which lured me to the genre. Later on did it sink to me, that gay relationships aren’t something to be frowned upon.

As I grew more exposed to the genre, I loved the gay characters as much as I loved previous ‘straight’ ones. I came to expect and get excited to see what will happen next. I felt intensity of feelings between the protagoninsts. I cheered for their relationship. I cheered for their happiness. I cried for their tribulations, etc.

And constantly, the voice inside my head tells me… There’s nothing wrong with gay love. There’s nothing wrong with it because it is REAL as any other kind of love. It just so happened that they were born the same gender but they have emotions as any other people in the society.

It’s quite bad that some society consider gay love as something quite ‘quirky’ and ‘weird’ and if worse comes to worse, disgusting. Many people consider the issue in black and white. Some think that if you are gay, you are bound to fall in love with any man. Isn’t that preposterous!? If a man falls for another man, it is not the gender issues behind the attraction. I believe rather, it is something the other person has done which attracted the admiration of the other.

Can’t they accept that people become gay because that is what they want and they are like any other people? Can’t they accept that gay people can also truly love someone?

What brought about this entry? Oh well, I just happened to go in a ‘moe’ rampage over a series I recently finished. It’s titled Kyou Kara Maoh (God Save Our King!).

It’s a story of Yuuri, a normal high school boy, who got literally flushed down a toilet to another world. He found out later he is the long awaited Demon King of that world (called Shin Makoku) and accidentally got himself a fiancee, who happened to be one of his official ‘male’ bodyguards. ^^

Wolfram, the fiancee, can be categorized as an androgynous bishie. With his blond hair, green eyes and slim physique, put him into a dress and you get yourself a pretty lady. ^^ Unfortunately though, he has a sharp tounge, and an immature and unpredictable attitude.

Wolfram and Yuuri were initially very much against the idea. Yuuri vocally expresses his hesitancy over the match but he is shown not doing much to change the issue. He is often shown going along with the flow of events.

Wolfram, on the other hand, will be seen having romantic inclinations for Yuuri as the series progress. The constant rampage of jealousy, his constant assertiveness to be always beside Yuuri, his subtle hints of plans of their future together, him proudly stating that he is the King’s fiancee to anyone within earshot etc. XDDD I’m loving this brat. XD

Yuuri is shown to not be aware of Wolfram’s growing affections. Yet, they are constantly seen protecting each other at the best of their abilities. There is no concrete evidence of Yuuri having romantic inclinations towards Wolfram, but anyone with eyesight would see a funny but perfect match, if biasedness would be removed on them being both men.

I really love these characters. I see something precious between them as I see any other normal couple.

I am glad that I am exposed to this genre. It helped me open my eyes to facts of ‘reality’. I learned to accept facts and I hope these beliefs will reach others as well. ^_^

Of course, being an anime fan, I get to be in fangirl mode whenever a fanart or an image from an artbook of a fave anime reaches me, and I faint over the ‘meaning’ of images. XDDD

Check out what Licorne shared to me recently. Kyou Kara Maoh images! Of course, this is Yuuri and Wolfram! Sugoooooi!

The Power of Words

While I had my lunch with my boss yesterday, I mentioned some slogans I came up for t-shirts I plan to design. Most are quirky and naughty and my boss smilingly mentioned an article he read a long time ago.

It was stated in the article that words hold such power, humans are not aware how often they are misused. It isn’t humans are gramattically stupid, since we have scholars and geniuses to go against that. The article focuses on using the correct words to avoid certain tragedies in our society.

Example, take anti-war organizations. Despite any laws and constitutions created to avoid any conflicts, local or otherwise, there is a never-ending stream of arguments all over the world, resulting to human sufferings and sometimes, mass destruction.

The reason behind word usage is because of the word ‘war’, even if the word ‘anti’ is connected to it. You may think, what’s the connection?

I’m not sure myself. But as I think about it, there are phrases like Pro Peace right? I think it’s the word ‘war’ that is given more emphasis despite the ‘anti-war’ terminology. And that is what perceived to be a powerful force behind world conflicts. Seeing the word ‘war’ testifies its ongoing growth in the society.

Another example, March is fire prevention month. Yet, there are daily news on fires across the metropolis, with hundreds loosing their homes. Others loosing a loved one. Others, their dreams. Is it truly ‘Fire Prevention Month”? The otherwise happens @_@

As for the usual thing we see almost everyday, the “traffic enforcer”. Taking the phrase literally, it tells of someone enforcing traffic. Is this the reason behind the heavy, HEAVY traffic here? LOL

Oh well, this is something to think about. The Power of Words. ^_^

Little Angel for Palm OS

chibi angel

Your personal digital pal. This cute little cherub can offer up gentle advice or a self-esteem boost whenever you need it. Forget about turning to friends, family or expensive therapists. Warning: Some of the advice may be a bit harsh.

Download Application HERE (39KB FREE!)

I reinstalled an old Palm application titled “Little Angel.” If you feel like having a bit of cheering up after a stressful day, rather that go see a ‘shrink’, you could have your own little bald ‘cherub’ friend to make you smile. Why waste money on a shrink when your palm friend could do the job for free?

All you have to do is tap on the little heart beside the cherub and hear him ‘chirp’ out the message that flashes on top of the screen. The messages could be cliche but you would still smile from the application’s cute cherub presentation.

But the cute little cherub has a ‘naughty’ side once in a while. He / she sometimes flashes his little butt to the screen or mocks you for the hell of it (did I say hell?).

Some of his/her messages are as follows (my own comments are after each italics):

Every cloud has a silver lining. Cliche. ^_^

Always keep your head up and smile. Ah yes, face the sun and smile. Smell the daffodils, blah blah blah. HAHAHA

A lift in love heart can lift up heart. Aishiteru minna! (Love you guys!)

Go away. What the… ?! Why are you sending me away little cherub? *sniff sniff*

Crack the screen. Release me to your defenseless world! Errrrr…

Don’t look at me. I’m just a piece of software. You’re supposed to give me advice!

Your pants look a little too tight. Why you little pervert! *thwacks*
