Kanji Pictograph Book

I don’t know if staying in Powerbooks is a good or a bad thing. It’s good with all the book treasures you can find in there but hell it takes a lot out of your wallet though. I left the store yesterday with my face probably looking like this T______________________T .

But no, I can’t complain afterwards with the book I bought. Kanji Pict.O.Graphix Japanese students are thought Kanji by continously making them write the characters until it is embedded in their head. But for non-Japanese students like me, this could be boring and tedious.

With this book, one view contemporary visuals along with textual memory aids – mnemonics – to easily remember them. This book also holds the titles as the Winner of the International Typographic Design Award and HOW International Design Award.

And truth be told, I tried memorizing the characters last night, and the pictures sure worked!

^_________^

I am so loving this book. I scanned a page below so you could how the interior looked like. For Kanji students like me, this book is a MUST!

Plan for Q1 of 2007

Somebody, please tell me how to prioritize. I have a goal for 2007 and that is to review and study for Japanese.

Japanese. Japanese. Japanese.

Once upon a time, I was very hyped in learning Nihonggo. I wanted to read, listen and speak it. Then, the urge left. Flew out of the window when I wasn’t able to earn enough for my tuition. Too many expenses came up. :(

Once in a while, I still browse through my language workbooks, notes, dictionaries, just to get a glimpse of the characters and texts I once gobbled up for knowledge. I felt the waste of having the knowledge fly away, unchained from my brain. And I’m back to ZERO.

Oh well, at least my resources are still intact. I want to learn it again but the urge is somehow like drained out of me. My textbooks are right in front of me. They’re opened, but comprehension eludes me. The texts don’t stick.

Gahd! How will I have the inspiration to go forward for what I want? I want to learn again but how will I have the heart?

The Other Side of Christmas… for some

For those in the cheerful spirit of Christmas, DO NOT READ THIS. Don’t say I did not warn you.

#######

She knows Christmas is the time to be merry,
to sing,
to dance,
to be friendly,
to give and receive gifts,
to listen,
to eat,
to laugh,
to jump,
to squeal,
to smell hot chocolate,
to decorate,
to read under the christmas tree,
to stare at hypnotic candlelights,
to believe in wishes,
to be excited,
to hang socks and misletoes,
to watch cartoons,
to play,
to believe in fairies,
to wait for Santa (even though you’re not a kid anymore),
to tell stories,
to have more photos,
to visit friends,
to be with family
and…
to believe in miracles.

And yet,
she has lost her voice to sing,
she does not feel her legs to dance,
strangers are too suspicious to be friendly with,
she does not receive gifts,
there is no music for her ears,
no appetite to eat,
no smile on her lips,
no strength to jump,
no urge to squeal,
no chocolate for a drink,
no decorations to put up,
no new story to read,
feels stupid to look at candlelights,
no wish to be granted,
no excitement to feel,
no socks and misletoes to hang,
no cartoons to feel like a kid again,
no playmate,
no fairy tale to go back to,
no Santa to stay up for,
no stories to share,
no photos to be in,
no friends to be with,
no family to share with,
and…
no sense to be celebrating, for wishes can be useless.
