Initial D Live Movie

I never thought a ‘drift racing’ movie could hook me again on my love for cars. No I’m not a car afficionado. I can’t even drive! There was a time though (I think way back in high school), when I love looking at cars. I’m nowhere knowledgeable on car engines, nor the mechanics behind its functionality, but I sure love seeing cool looking autos at hi-speed. I know speeding is bad but I bet some girls would back me up upon saying that awesome autos with dangerous drivers could be so awfully tempting to be with. LOL

There is no way I would be a passenger with a speed-loving maniac nor I’m not sure I will fully support a friend who maybe into that, since, no doubt, I will continously feel tension if he / she will ever come back in one piece. Still, the curious thrill for speed intrigues me.

Initial D Live Action has brought back my attention for speed. The road curves, the screeching tires, the danger, everything that caught my attention from the anime series is revived.

But hear this out, I HATED the series. I also HATED the movie. For me, the pace was too slow, too technical, the characters looked like robots to me, and the talk about cars, cars and more cars just had be dozing off in the film viewing. Being a series, the show had taken the advantage of totally explaining each and every aspect of drift-racing, from essential car parts and functions, to road technique and professionalism, to drift racing etiquette to accept challenges and mannerism upon winning or loosing. Maybe as a GIRL, I couldn’t care less. But I did get a bit excited over the races… but only a BIT.

I think the series caters on the car afficionados. Yes, there are many drivers out there, but only a small percentage would care about drift-racing. Since the anime-series talked of NOTHING but cars, I guess it encompassed any other aspect the series had, therefore, dwindling its niche market.

I didn’t think of watching the series or movie ever again.

The LIVE Action though had me think otherwise. From the opening sequence of mountain ranges and roads, tunnels and headlights in company with a hip music, it gave me the impression of simplicity. The scenery of the movie was actually calming, from the mountain views, rivers and bridges, its a contrast to the ‘manly’ prowess ‘drift-racing would normally imply.

The talk on drift racing was simply put in layman’s language. I could actually understand a bit of what the drifters were talking about. They talked about cars, the parts in it, the neccessity of this component and that. Yea, I forgot about it at the end, but at least I didn’t grew bored from listening to it.

This is the movie that got me to lean forward attentively and wave my hands in excitement over the competition scenes, especially when they skid over the road and the tires is millimeters away from the edge of the pavement. It got me gripping my seat.

And would I dare forget about the lovable Jay Chou and Edison Chen? HAHA. As if. These two actors knacked off the roles of laid back, humble, yet undeniably kings of drift racing. And I really just adore Jay Chou’s bored look whenever he drives or competes. Yes, he is BORED when he competes. Imagine that.

Damn! I could go on and on about this and I might bore you with the details. XD

Why don’t you just check out the official website at http://hk.initialdthemovie.com/ Note however, the site is dominantly Flash, so your browser have to be configured to be able to view swf files.

In the site, you will be able to learn more of the origin of Initial D, as well as avail freebies and information on drift racing. There is also a game in it too so you may want to check that out. :D

I just saw something that made me think. A new opportunity, a plan of action, a commitment for the future. It is something to make me possibly very happy in the future, if I hack it.

I’m excited and at the same time scared. What will happen? What will be the outcome?

And another I have to invest on some materials to make everything come together.

I have to sleep on this tonight. My brain is not working well because of this damn cold. -__-

The Most Amazing Dog

This is not a story of an ordinary dog who knows tricks or did a heroic deed to gain star quality.

Faith is a dog with only two hind legs and was taught to walk upright like a human being. :D

She is so wonderful.

Everyone will learn something from her.
