Music Sentimentality

It took three songs. Three plain songs. One a Tagalog song titled, “Pag-Ibig Ko’y Pansinin”, “Remember Me This Way” by Jordan Hill from the movie, “Casper” and “No Me Ames” by Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. I was just plain listening to my winamp in the office and suddenly I felt the urge to weep. Really. I felt sad, nostalgic, sentimental. This is a new innovation! You could actually view video ads on your cellphone via transmitters that are set up among specific areas. The ads don’t automatically play in order not to annoy the owner. Rather, a message asks if the cellphone owner would like to view the ad. If yes, the ad will play. Otherwise, it will not.

During a recent two-week test, of 87,000 phones discovered by the transmitters at the railway stations, 13,000 people agreed to download clips. That 15% response rate is high by advertising-industry standards.
